The Tasweer-e-Zindagi program uses Photovoice to understand the experiences of vulnerable populations to identify their challenges and supports to advocate for more people-centered approaches to health.
Photovoice is a participatory research methodology that allows individuals to effectively analyze their situations and advocate for change. We give cameras to affected populations and ask them to take photographs to share their experiences, challenges, and factors that support them. Photographs are discussed with participants in groups and analyzed to identify emergent themes. Each photograph is associated with a story in the participant’s own words to contextualize it.
